Black Widow looks back many years
to a funeral and muses on being a sociopath. Now she wonders if she has
changed….
Today: Natasha is with the wounded
Isaiah Ross in the hospital, wanting to know who shot him. Isaiah warns her
that Chaos is after her, her bank accounts have been emptied and she should be
in hiding. He reveals he was shot by Rashid (see issues #10-11) as he was
afraid of what Chaos would do to him for failing….
A disguised Natasha hangs out near
her apartment as news trucks fill the area. She encounters her frenemy Tori
Raven, who tracked down Natasha to give her a list of Chaos agents, called
accountants since Chaos is primarily a financial organization. Nat asks Tori
two favors: one is to get her some weapons and second is to rescue her cat….
Natasha arrives at Isaiah’s
brother’s forest cabin, unpacks her weapons and cat and late that night,
dressed in her familiar black outfit with stings, she visits Isaiah in the
hospital again. She intends to avenge him; Isaiah, frightened by the look in her
eyes, tells her not to pretend she is doing this for him. She hands him the
list of accountants and asks him to wait a few days before giving it to Maria
Hill….
So Rashid is stopped at an airport,
taken into custody and placed in a small room. Natasha talks to him with a
voice distorter, claiming to be Chaos. The fearful Rashid pleads his loyalty,
offering to go back and make sure Black Widow and Isaiah are dead; he thought
that Isaiah slowly dying would be a more effective warning. He again claims to
have value for Chaos, he even enjoyed shooting Isaiah…and here Natasha shoots
him twice in the head. She takes his phone and departs….
Isaiah receives a visit in the
hospital from Clint Barton. They talk about Natasha and the distance she puts
between herself and other people. Isaiah asks that Maria Hill pay him a visit
so he can give her the list from Nat…
Meanwhile, Natasha has her own copy
of the list and the first name, Rashid, is crossed off….
