Now: Black Widow is tasked with
ferrying refugees to safety by Captain America (Sam Cap); she declares that she
will make something good of it if it’s the last thing she does….
Then: Natasha’s first assignment
for the Red Room is to travel to Cuba and meet a couple, Jema and Jose
Comienza, who have information that may be of value to Moscow. Her mission is
to get them out of the country before Castro has them killed. Her classmate
Marina is already in place, as a friend of the Comienzas.
In Cuba, Natasha meet with Marina,
taking the role of a business acquaintance; she and Marina meet the Comienzas
at a nightclub and Natasha feels them out about defecting. Nat realizes they re
scared so she decides to give them a little push….
The next day, the Comienzas
discover a small American flag on their doorstep and realize someone knows they
have been approaching the Americans….
On a beach, Natasha meets with her
handler and gives a progress report on the mission, speaking well of Marina.
The handler informs her that they are moving up the timeline so she must be
ready by the weekend….
Marina introduces Natasha to her
boyfriend Raul, whom she claims is just cover but she seems genuinely attracted
to him (and his cat). At the market, they “accidentally” run into Jema
Comienza. Natasha notes they are desperate but not desperate enough….
Jena and Jose put their son to bed
and call their American contact; Jose goes out to meet her but her car
explodes, thanks to Natasha….
Natasha meets again with her
handler. Nat says that Marina is doing well but the handler notes that Marina
seems too comfortable in place and tells Nat that, when the mission is
completed, she will have to eliminate Marina….
