Hulk goes from Nevada to Manhattan in search of his friend, Doctor Strange, the only one who could save his beloved Jarella, mortally wounded in the previous issue (Incredible Hulk #205).

Thunderbolt Ross sends two combat jets from Gamma Base to halt the Hulk, but the mission fails. Doc Samson intercedes, he believes Ross' hunt for the Hulk has become an obsession. The old man accords.

When Hulk reaches New York, he jumps on top of the Statue of Liberty to locate Strange's mansion. NYPD helicopters throw him a net. After getting rid of it, he tears off one of the statue's arms and uses it as a spear to split the chopper in two.

Landing in Manhattan, a boozy offers Hulk some liquor. Thirsty, he accepts it but angrily rejects the cheap drink after tasting it. The drunken runs away. Hulk does not comprehend why he's always hunted and tricked by "puny" men.

When he finds Doctor Strange's house and cannot penetrate a mystic barrier that protects it, he sits down to wait for his friend. Hours later, he's surrounded by police cars. Moved by fear, official Brian Hoffman shoots the Hulk on the head. A battle ensues where the police are helpless against the raging emerald powerhouse. Unfortunately, neither the Fantastic Four nor the Avengers are nearby to stop the monster.

Finally, Hulk reaches the top of a Manhattan Waterfront building and is about to throw a massive construct against the police. But it suddenly vanishes by the power of Doctor Strange! Hulk is happy to have finally found his friend. But the Master of the Mystic Arts came not in a friendly way: He's there to stop the Hulk from causing any more senseless damage. And he's sided by Valkyrie, Nighthawk and the Red Guardian.
