Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Thor #176 Synopsis by Marvel Comics
Loki suggests that he might kill Odin before he awakens and has Thor sent to Asgard's dungeon. The Warriors Three battle Loki's guard but ultimately cannot defy the Odinring and are similarly rounded up. Balder, who has avoided swearing fealty to Loki, sets his friends free.

Meanwhile, Loki demands that Sif marry him. When she refuses, he forces her to battle a female troll.

Elsewhere, with Odin's spell no longer binding him, Surtur rises up from the fires beneath Asgard and prepares to destroy the realm.

Sif's battle with the troll ends when Thor and his friends intervene. Loki shows them that he now has Odin imprisoned within a capsule in the Sea of Eternal Night, a place of no awakening. However, Surtur launches his attack on Asgard and Loki flees. Thor sends Balder and Sif to free Odin, then rallies the rest of Asgard against Surtur.
