Thor and the Warriors Three lead Asgard's armies against Surtur while Balder and Sif force Igron to reveal Odin's location. As Thor battles one-on-one with Surtur, Igron sends Balder to the Sea of Eternal Night. His body aging rapidly, Balder manages to awaken Odin before passing out.

The Asgardians join Thor in the fight as Odin returns to Igron's chambers with Balder, using his powers to restore Balder's vitality. Asgard's war with Surtur seems hopeless as even their frost gun weapon was no lasting effect. Suddenly, Odin appears and banishes Surtur once again beneath the surface.
